The following extract has been removed from my memoir but here’s a sneak peak at it:
“This evening Christopher Reeve is being interviewed on a chat show. He’s talking about his accident and his belief that, one day, he will walk again, once medical science has found a cure for spinal cord injury.
‘If we can conquer outer space, we should be able to conquer inner space too.’ Dream on, I think. It’s uncomfortable watching him in his wheel chair with a tube in his throat mechanically breathing for him. It couldn’t be more ironic.
“The last shot, he turns to me and winks. I don’t know if anybody else sees this wink. Maybe it’s a secret psychic nod just to me because, he’s saying, nothing is impossible.”
